Almost time...

Well my hospital bags are packed, my Target baby registry is cleaned out, the compassionate service committee keeps texting me, and my baby app says this little guy is the size of a small watermelon.  Sooooo, I think it's safe to say baby boy is done cooking and we are just waiting for him to come out!!  Six days to go!

I don't really know how I feel right now, but I wanted to jot down my confusing thoughts on the blog before baby comes so I can always remember this really weird week.  I finished work on Friday, and before then, this whole pregnancy has revolved around working AND keeping myself busy with baby errands and tasks.  I have been busy busy busy and loving it.  Now that  I am off work and all those tasks have been completed, I feel like I am just sitting around waiting for some huge event that I don't actually know it's going to go or how it's going to turn out and it's really terrifying and kind of exciting.

Don't get me wrong,  I am SO excited for the baby to be here.  Thinking about it makes me want to cry tears of joy and seeing all his little clothes and baby gear has the same effect on me.  But I am pretty dang scared for labor and delivery.  I am a pain whimp, and as much as I want to believe I will get an epidural, I am worried it won't happen for some reason and I will join the ranks of moms who give birth all natural.  Ah!  Also, it's weird to wake up every morning and not know if at the end of the day you will have a baby in your arms or be laboring in the hospital.  I don't like "the unknown" and living my life in the great unknown right now is annoying me.  I wish I had an induction or C-section date so I could know when all of this is going down.  But maybe not knowing will make it more meaningful or exciting.  Who knows.  I have been having some serious Braxton Hicks contractions the past few days but other than that, there is no sign of baby coming any time soon.

Things in the Campa house have been a little crazy lately.  Brian's semester is wrapping up and he has exams and projects to worry about plus classes and study sessions to attend.  He literally has a class he needs to go to ON my due date. EEEK.  We are still in the process of securing a loan for our new house and trying to pick the wall colors and carpets and things we want before they start building.  Both of us have callings but Brian's calling as executive secretary is especially time consuming and requires extra meetings twice a week.  Brian is also as busy as ever at work and never seems to have enough time to get things done there...meanwhile I am wrapping my head around NOT working and trying to relax because as all parents LOVE to tell you: "YOU'LL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN! ENJOY IT WHILE YOU CAN!!!"  I swear I might murder the next person to tell me that.  I worked overnight shifts for a year, I know the drill, thanks.... (annoyed eye roll emoji).  In general conference last week they talked a lot about the Spirit and letting it guide your life, and also a lot about having faith and letting things work out.  I am trying to adopt that mentality right now during this stressful season of life.

Here are some pictures from the past couple of weeks:

I really can't believe how large my belly is haha.  It's going to be pretty weird to not have it...I am kind of just used to it at this point.

We celebrated our third (!!) anniversary last week. Brian custom designed this huge bouquet of roses for me and I cried when I read the sweet letter he wrote me to go along with them.  We celebrated by going to see Beauty and the Beast in the iPic theater and then Brian wanted to take me out for a fancy dinner but I felt like crap so we settled for Chick-Fil-A at home while watching march madness and it was honestly perfect.

Danielle and her husband Ky came to visit Pasadena!  I loved seeing them and waddling around Old Town Pasadena with them!

It's a great blessing Brian doesn't read my blog cause he'd kill me for this but I love it.  He was talking to baby boy and I snapped a pic.

Is there anything hotter?  I submit not.  Well maybe once the baby is in there....

Probably one of our last spontaneous frozen treat dates with just the two of us!  But don't worry, we will teach baby boy to love ice cream, slurpees, and smoothies as much as his parents do.

Ok Baby Boy!  We are ready for you!! Or at least we think we might be.  Come out whenever you are ready. ###

Baby on Board Shower

Becky & Lizzie offered to throw me a baby shower about .02 seconds after they found out I was pregnant, and I have been excited about it every second since!  You see, Becky and Lizzie stole ALL the party planning genes from me, and every bash they have ever thrown is over the top and perfect in every way, so I was excited to see what they came up with!

The Baby on Board shower was in fact the greatest baby shower in the history of baby showers.  I am absolutely convinced.  I knew it would be fancy and amazing but it exceeded even my wildest expectations!  They didn't tell me much about their plans, and it was way more fun that way.

The weekend started with Becky flying into OC on Thursday and Lizzie flying in on Saturday morning.  I went to HB Saturday morning and picked up Lizzie on the way.  Becky had a wedding to attend in San Diego so I didn't get to see much of her that day.  We spent the day doing shower errands, getting flowers, going to Costco, and mom and I went stroller shopping.  We picked up Blythe a little later on....she wins the #1 aunt award for flying in from Vegas to attend!  I spent the night and then went home early on Sunday to attend church/play the organ.

The shower was at the Ngo's home, which proved to be the perfect venue.  It was raining all morning pretty hard, but miraculously the skies parted and the rain stopped right as the shower started.  We had beautiful sunny weather, so part of the shower was outside!  Hooray!

My breath was taken away the second I walked in.  I mean, look at that cake!!!  Becky had it ordered from a HB bakery and it was GORGEOUS.  I love that she was telling people she made it, haha!  And she is talented enough that everyone easily believed her.

The food was amazing.  Nancy and Auntie Shelly pitched in and made taco meat, rice and beans.  My family did all the toppings plus my FAVORITE food: fruit salad!!  This one was topped with a honey lime sauce and omg, I could've eaten it all by myself.

Last minute party prep!  Sarah was nice enough to help with everything!!  SO much family love right now.

Becky had that cute "baby on board" banner ordered from Etsy, cause, duh.  And now I have it for baby boy's nursery!

If you have a Mormon event and you don't have a letter board, did you ever have a Mormon event??

This pictures makes me so happy.  I love my sisters SO much.  Baby boy seriously has the best aunts.  I cry when I think of it.  BUT LOOK AT THAT FLORAL CROWN!!  It was my one shower request, I told them I wanted a floral crown, and they did not disappoint!!  Lizzie made it by hand!!  Everyone assumed they bought it but I loved wearing it all night and showing off her talent.

Becky and Lizzie were the official party planners but mom did so much work too.  I really can't say how much I love them all.

Laura Fong spent the Saturday before driving over an hour to my work baby shower, and spent the next Sunday driving from Torrance to Pasadena for this shower.  What a friend!!  She has become such an important and special person in my life, aka double click partner in crime, and baby boy is sure to love his Auntie Laura!

Kayla and her mom came down from SLO!

Aren't these cute?!  They are filled with bright blue taffy.  So fun.

Natalie Tingey and her mom came all the way from VEGAS! What!?  She was my only high school friend there and I was SOOO soosos happy to see her plus amazed at how dedicated she is to baby boy.

I really couldn't believe how many people came.  There were so many ladies from my ward, a handful of dear friends, tons of Campas, and plenty of Matkins/Hayes' as well!  I felt so loved the whole night!

One of the activities was painting a little wooden surfboard for a mobile for baby boy!  I'm so glad it stopped raining so everyone could do it outside.  It was so fun to see everyone's creations.  The San Diego Campas dominated with their craftiness.

My friend and BYU roomie Arrin came!!  She recently moved to LA and I'm so glad she was able to be there!

One of my favorite part of the shower were the bright, fresh flowers everywhere.

Auntie Linda made these fancy desserts that were gobbled up at an alarming rate.

Becky had two party games ready but only one was used, and it was a doozy.  We all played "name the celebrity baby" game and it was so hard yet somehow Auntie Diana got an almost perfect score.  Genius.

Opening gifts was absolutely amazing for me and probably a total bore for everyone else haha.  I got so. many. things.  I am so thankful.  From clothes to diapers to bottles to decorations, we are ready for baby thanks to the shower!!

Aunt Erika handmade this amazing "I Spy" quilt!  Gorgeous!

One of the most memorable moments of the night happened when I unwrapped a gift from my mom. Blythe was standing right next to me and said "prepare to be amazed, she's been working on this for forever!" Working on something for forever?  I was immediately confused.  My mom is certainly a woman of many talents but crafting things is not one of her hobbies.  This is what  I opened:

That's right, breaking news, MY MOM KNITS.  And she knit a blue sweater and little hat for her first grandchild!  I was trying to not cry, laugh, and fall over from shock all at the same time!  I don't think the people at the shower who don't really know my mom understood my perplexed reaction.  In all of my years of knowing my mom she has never made anything like this, and I am so impressed by her talent and her love for baby boy.  I will cherish this little outfit for forever.

One of my favorite pics of the night with all the Campa cousins + Yvette!

The shower was over-the-top perfect.  Becky and Lizzie outdid themselves and set the new standard.  Everyone had a fabulous time and it was the perfect event, you could tell they thought about things to do and make and order that I would like, and they nailed it.  I guess that's what happens when the people who know you the best plan your baby shower.  I am so thankful.  Nothing makes you feel more loved than having a baby, so I might just have about 15 more.
