Blue Dress and a Bump

Mom and dad got me a super fancy new camera for Christmas (!!!) and mom and Lizzie got me this maternity dress (it's Jessica Simpson lolol) so a photo session was in order.  Brian snapped these pics of me just downstairs in our courtyard, but I love how they turned out!  Even though I am opposed to posting "bumpies" on social media, I couldn't help myself and even put one on Insta.  Love that bump and the little boy inside even more!!!

December Fun

December went quickly, mostly because I was only in Pasadena for half the month.  I left for Chicago on the 17th and came back right before New Years.  We had some good times before I left though, especially after poor Brian finished his first semester of school (and nailed it by the way)!

Brian took me out to a fancy dinner at Houston's, my first time.  It did NOT disappoint.

We had our annual ward Christmas party.  The primary kids didn't let down the crowds, they dressed up in costumes to create a naticity scene and sang like angels.  If only everyone could see how devil-ish they were before they got on stage!  Ugh!

We went to Riverside to see the famous Mission Inn Lights.  We had NO idea how crowded it would be!  So instead of waiting on line for hours, we just snapped this pictures outside the gates and called it good.  So. Many. People.

My bump decide to show up this month!!  And I love it!

We had a fun night out at the Americana in Glendale, testing out the new Shake Shack, doing some Christmas shopping, and enjoying some fake "soap snow."  This has become a Christmas tradition for us!

We had Brian's work party the night before I left for Chicago.  It seriously latest sooooo long (lots of alcohol and white elephant gifts).  We didn't get home until 11 and had to get up at 3am to get me to LAX...driving through the storm of the century.  more on that later.

My chicago trip was unbelievable!  I will do a full post on that soon.  But let's just say Hamilton changed my life.

We had a great time spending Christmas in Vegas!  A full post is coming on that too.

Brian sporting one of his new Christmas shirts. Love love.

December was fantastic!  Most importantly because it was the last month of 2016, a year that will always mean so much to us.  ###

Thanksgiving 2016

Thanksgiving 2016 was great!  It was our year to be with the Campas, so Becky and Nate were in Portland.  I missed being with my family on the holiday, but we got to see mom, dad, and Lizzie for the long weekend!

We started our day with a trip to the gym!  I know right?  We are amazing.  (We promptly undid all our hard work by eating 3,000 calories).

Everyone was excited to see my growing bump, and I thought it was so huge!  Now as I sit here 2 months later and have an actual massive bump, I feel like it looks tiny.

Brian fulfilled his yearly duty of lifting a very heavy turkey:

Fun, family, food:

and filters!

On black friday, we drove to HB to see mom and dad and lizzie.  Apparently I didn't take any pictures....??? (so unlike me!)  but we had a great time.  We went to Fiesta grill, pacific city mall, watched football, went to the south coast plaza mall (which gave me a bad headache, boo), and at ate Duke's barefoot bar where we indulged in Hula pie, yum!!!

Dad also used his fancy camera and lens (which I now own, thank you to Santa) to take some pics of us for our Christmas card.  Despite the fact I brought al the wrong clothes, I love how they turned out!  So beachy and fun:

2016 New Years Resolution

It's rare for me to set a lofty new years goal and then actually keep it, but that's what I managed to do in 2016.  For Christmas 2015 I bought lizzie a Paperchase journey she decided she didn't need and I was unable to return it.  Shortly after that, my friend Ally told me she was going to make a goal board for the year, and for whatever reason that gave me the idea to use the journal I had gotten for Lizzie and journal every. single. day.   I have always been pretty good about blogging, but have wanted to do deeper and more meaningful journaling for a long time.  This seemed like a great opportunity.

And so I did it.  I wrote down every single thing I did in 2016, from the moment I woke up until the second I went to bed.  Sure, sometimes I had to catch up after a few days of slacking but I can confidently say I didn't miss a thing.  In retrospect, I see the hand of the Lord in setting this goal.  So many things happened in 2016 that I want to remember always.  I have LOVED reading my entries.  At the beginning of the year we were concerned about when Brian should go to school and if he even would get in.  He is now in his second semester at Pepperdine!  Toward the middle of the year we started to get more comfortable about the idea of having a baby, and I journaled about that experience.  Then the surprise of our lives came when we found out we were pregnant in August.  That incredibly sacred experience is documented so well, and I know I would never have written it all down if it wasn't for my goal.

Looking back I wish that I would have written more about my feelings and thoughts instead of just what I did throughout my day, but reading what I did during the day jogs so many memories, and Brian and I have already found ourselves referencing the journal to see what we were doing on a certain day.

So now it's 2017 and I've decided to not keep up my daily journal.  I think I decided that because I want to focus on this blog a little more.  My daily journal really made me cut down on my blogging.  I want my blog to be a place where I can safely post my thoughts and feelings on being a new mom, and overshare pictures of our ADORABLE child, of course!  So stay tuned for that! ###

November Fun

Going to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!  Spoiler alert, it wasn't a good movie.  And I fell asleep at the end in my big comfy iPic chair haha!

We went to the UCLA/USC football game and let's just say....never again.  So many crazy people/beer/swearing.  It was fun to go to the Campa's UCLA tailgate, but I was glad we didn't go to the ACTUAL game haha.

More bumpiness:

A visit from Eric, Kayla, and Crew:

A rare date/appearance by Brian Campa: busiest man in the world during a very busy semester.

We decorated for Christmas SO early this year!  This is our new 6 foot Christmas tree, an upgrade from our Charlie Brown tree that has served us well for 2 years.  I made Brian swear that next year we are getting a real tree!!

My favorite thing to do: get Brian involved in Snapfish Selfies.

We went out to a lunch at a fancy sandwich place near a property Brian manages in Burbank after an OB appointment Brian came to.  We were celebrating that everything looks good!
