Last night my friend Ashley and I threw an amazing Halloween party for my Yuma single's ward!!

It was a HUGE success.  We decorated the front of my house top to bottom.  It looked incredible, the pictures don't do it justice.  I bought some black lights...caution tape...creepy candles...streamers...and went crazy.  We also had a few pumpkin decorations donated for the cause.

So many people came!  We had basically everyone in the ward, as well as non-member friends and less active people.  We had dancing...a costume contest...tons of dessert...donut on a string...hocus pocus....and more!

Brian and I went as the "government shutdown."  Haha, I have to give Lizzie full credit for the idea!  She came up with it last weekend.  Brian dressed as a park ranger and I was the Statue of Liberty.  We had signs on our necks that said "furloughed" and "closed."  The costumes were a HIT!  In fact, we won "most original costume."  boom baby!

Here are some photos.  I think a yearly Halloween party may have to be a new tradition!  Thanks to Brian for the help setting up...taking down...and everything else.  He is a real gem.

Pics from a Fall weekend in Vegas.

I loved being home in Vegas with all my family.  We kept saying it felt like Christmas becuase we were all together on Dustin Avenue...and probably also because there was much joy in the world.

I wish I didn't have to leave, but I am so happy I had a few days with my loves.

It was also sooo fun to see my BFFL and her husband in Vegas!  They were down for a weekend away from Provo and we were able to meet up!  Happy day!

Sierra Memorial

this past weekend, all 5 hayes' were back on dustin avenue for a fall weekend home.

on sunday we had a memorial for Sierra, our beloved chocolate lab who passed away in june.
we waited until we could all be there, so this weekend was perfect.
we planted an apple tree and buried her ashes next to it.
i wasn't expecting to cry, and i don't think becky and lizzie were either!
but...alas...tears were shed.
we loved that crazy dog!
it was a happy sad memorial...we all shared our favorite memory of sierra, took turns shoveling the dirt on the tree, and lizzie read a poem the mortuary sent home with us.
it was really nice.
i am so happy we got to do this together.
i miss my dog!

i wanted to write down everyone's favorite memories before i forget.
here they are:

MOM: when mom and dad went to pick littie Sierra puppy out, they saw a full litter of puppies running around like crazy.  mom picked the only calm one: sierra.  little did she know, sierra tricked her!  mom said that was the only time she saw sierra be calm.  she was hyper as soon as she came home for the first time, up until her dying day.

DAD: dad loved when he would go out to the rance to pick Sierra up after the summer.  he said she would immediately jump in the back of the car when he got there and wouldn't get out because she wanted to come home to las vegas.

BECKY: becky loved how sierra was always sleeping in our windows, and how she would bark as soon as anyone came up to the door.  she said sierra made her feel safe and loved.

LIZZIE: lizzie said she loved sierra because she used to use her to impress boys who came over the hang out.  :)  they would always comment on how cute her dog was, but she knew they were talking about her...haha!

ME: i knew i would be emotionally unstable to talk freely, so i read an essay i wrote about Sierra my senior year.  i wrote about how she is so hyper she would pull me down the road, and about how she used to steal my dad's screwdrivers and bury them.  i wrote the essay 5 years ago, but it made me laugh all over again reading it!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Life lately-as seen through my iPhone.

It's been a busy end to the summer.
I've been traveling to Vegas...California...and Phoenix.
And when I'm not on the road...I'm in Yuma, normally with Brian Campa.
Here is the highlight reel...according to my iPhone.

enjoying the new hot dog on a stick in vegas between natalie's wedding and reception.  it isn't in a mall, which concerned me.  even more concerning, lizzie revealed she would like to work there for the outfits.

visiting rita's in vegas.  ok so all i do in vegas is eat, sue me.

making fresh chicken salad for sunday dinner.  how did we photograph all our meals before we had smartphones?

lizzie doing last minute summer homework with a wireless keyboard.  she is really taking that idea and running with it!

just me...happy to be home.

facetiming with brian in his new ray bans.  he looks fancy and cool.

brian campa came to visit me labor day weekend.  he surprised me by coming a day early!  he called me right before my show started.  i couldn't wipe the grin off my face the entire show.  even during the sad stories.

he loved his gift from europe!  a barca shirt.  this is him kicking a fake soccer ball.  also we had so much fun that weekend we forgot to take pictures.  oops.

eating at a provo favorite now available in yuma: firehouse subs.  love that place!
saying goodbye is never easy.
a "welcome fall weekend" with ashley and anna.  we took a self defense class, made complicated cinnamon apple pretzles, and crafted!
these took way too long.
the finished product!  so what if it took us three trips to the michaels and three days to finish?
i interviewed the US secretary of education.
i went to la verne to see the campas!  i was recovering from a 24 hour throw up session, so brian brought me yogurt.  sweet boy.
so many hours spent watching football.
anna: "let's watch something besides sports."
brian: "shhhhhh."
(jk guys, he watched all of ms. america with me later.  love him for reals!)
i took a trip to mesa with my stake for a temple trip!  it was great.  i hadn't been inside the temple in well over a year.  it was long overdue.
me, ahlin, ashley, ally, and some other BYU friends of ours watched the byu vs. utah game at a buffalo wild wings.  we had to wait about 3 hours and i nearly died of hunger.  booo for UFC games, and yayyy for other BYU fans we saw there.
ashley brought her cot to ally's house.  i woke up in a panic in the middle of the night worried it would collapse and she would die.  that didn't happy, phew.  what DID happen was ally started beating my face with a pillow in her sleep.  it startled me, to say the least.  she must secretly hate me.  :(
i've been doing quite a few live shots lately with my new schedule.  i have a love/hate relationship with reporting and going live.  this happened to be a "love" night so my camera man snapped this pic.  it was at a local high school football game.

welpppp that's it folks!  i have failed at blogging lately...i blame the europe trip for consuming my social media life.  worth it.  i'll try harder, swearsies. ###
