farewell harry

in case you are not aware...it all ended. as in: harry potter. it all ended because the final movie came out. and as much as the ENTIRE world put it off by dragging the last book out into two movies (really wishing they did this with ALL the books, giving us 14 glorious movies), it had to happen. but the movie did not disappoint. my deep love of harry potter comes out more so than ever during movie releases. i get super duper into it...and i can attribute that to many different reasons.

maybe it is the BOND that i feel with the entire population ages 12-24 that unites us all as we glory in our nerdiness and embarrassing knowledge of random facts and figures about harry potter.

maybe it's when you get to the midnight movie and see everyone dressed us and using sticks they found outside to kill people that are being too hyper and annoying before the movie. "avadra kedavra!!" ..and.. when you also see that same annoying person respect the avadra kedavra and dramatically fall on the ground. oh how i wish magic was real.

maybe it's because everyone starts to clap when the theme starts playing and the dramatic zoom in on the title of move starts and you KNOW that harry potter and warner brothers own your soul for the next 2 hours.

maybe it's when you see people on the streets and beaches reading harry potter 7. and you are VERY positive that they are re-reading it. it's no way it's their first time.

maybe it's the parasocial relationship slash fantasy friendship i have with harry, hermione, and ron...and the joy i get when i think of how normal the actors who play those roles turned out. i feel like i know them and like we are actually best friends. kinda creepy....

maybe it's the laugh that burst out in the theatre when the epilogue was shown. harry looked older...ginny, however, did not. and it was a little creepy. also: albus severus potter looks like justin bieber. i REALLY hope he was sorted into gryffindor. he seemed so worried.

maybe it's just the pit in my stomach i feel when i realize that an era has ended..but..not really. we will all keep loving harry potter. we always will! we will force our children to read it, and they, in turn, will become obsessed. it's just that there will be no more fun midnight releases of books or movies..but that's ok. because, let's be real, it's quite tiring.

well that is enough nostalgia. the ngo family threw a fantastic party before the movie, and it was a blast. the Great Hall itself could not compare to their kitchen that night. they had every harry potter food a muggle could possibly make!!

and...rita skeeter was resurrected!!! she did not make an appearance in this movie...but was gladly sitting and watching in the audience. i love rita....although she is pretty much crazy and totally biased...she is somewhat of a great reporter!! totes respect the rita.

Megan's Shower

Megan Reed...my soul sister since birth....is getting married. In less than THREE WEEKS. holy moly guacamole!!! I am her maid of honor...and felt the desire to throw her a rocking shower. So it was done. Last Week. And it was pretty great too...considering I did the ENTIRE thing in less than 12 hours. Thank you very much. If you are getting married and would like a lovely color-themed shower in my kitchen, please inform me. I will need approximately 12 hours and you, too, can have a lovely shower.

Here are some pictures of the evening. It was great. I really can't wait for the actual wedding. It is sure to be a classy affair.Photobucket

dizneyland

this summer one of my things on my to-do list was to go to disneyland. and now, thanks for brian and his parents, i have!

i love disneyland. i used to go about 6 times a year when i was in choir....and (dare i say), it started to get old after a while. now that i am soooo much more grown up and mature (yea right), i appreciate a trip to d-land so much more!! it really is a very happy place. i don't know if it would say it is THE happiest place on earth....there still are lots of crying children and stressed out parents and lines....but our trip to disneyland was, in fact, very happy indeed.

campas!

waiting for the parade!! it was epic. disneyland theme this summer = "soundsational summer." IDK what that even means, but it makes a fine parade theme.
Photobucket

haha mid-ride photos are always hilarious. apparently i like to keep my hands up??

best part of the day: when we got stuck INSIDE of splash mountain for forever and then they had to EVACUATE us through the ride!! it was awesome. i was loving it and taking pictures next to all the cute zip a dee doo dah critters, even though they told me NOT to about ten times. then they gave us a free fast pass to ANYWHERE to make up for it. it was great. cause i didn't want to get wet anyways and got stuck in the front of the log. things work out.....

it was a tiring and great day. i walked back to the car asleep. no joke. i didn't know i was capable of that.....but i somehow made it. i <3 disneyland. PS- thanks to the fabulous Ngo family for the free ticket. ###
