i love him.

Dear Santa:

THANK YOU. you are a very sneaky man. i had no idea. i LOVE my gift this year. he will assist me in provo by driving me safely through snow storms and taking me to smiths to buy food so i don't starve. i named him rudolph; because he arrived on christmas, is jolly red, and when i turned him on for the first time: rudolph the red-nosed reindeer was playing on his radio. i think he likes his name. we are getting along great so far. thanks again, can't wait for you to come again next christmas. give mrs. claus my love.

regards,
Anna Hayes

tis the season!!!!!! and i LOVE it!!!!!

_*_--**--_*_MeRrY ChRiStMaS EvE!!!! _*-*-_*-*-*

this year, i feel like christmas has been defined by baked goods. each night, we get at least 3 plates of delicious baked goods from neighbors and friends of ours. we gave out lemon bars to the neighborhood and ward this year, made with lemons from our tree, (now decorated with christmas lights. thanks dad.) i really believe we could have fed a small country in africa with the amount we mass produced.

and then my mom had to use up this coupon she had at our local bakery that expires at the end of the year. so we added to the collection:

plus my little sister is a cupcake making extraordinaire, and baked cupcakes to give to her little friends. becky and i obviously assisted in the mess-making/decorating event of the season. they turned out sooo cute.

and last night, at good ole trader joe's, we discovered jumbo sized gingerbread man decorating kits! marked down to just 99 cents. obv we could not resist....and we just decorated these little buddies and placed them above our stockings so santa knows whose is whose. it was so fun making them. we attempted to make them look like us. i think we did great. sister decorating=fun.

i can' believe it is already christmas eve. it feels like christmas to me...because while the rest of the world is covered in snow and dreaming of a white christmas...i am sitting around in my t-shirt, gym shorts, and flip flops. welcome to fabulous festive las vegas.

today has been a great christmas eve. we spent ALL morning wrapping gifts. i swear, this year we have more gifts than ever for some weird reason. apparently we are all more fond of each other than ever before! sweetness.

my dad decorated our car with christmas lights today. we are all sad we waited so long to do it. it looks AMAZING and people who drive by us love it.

this afternoon my dad and sisters and i went to the bellagio, my favorite hotel/casino in vegas, to see the christmas indoor gardens and the fountains show with christmas music. it was really magical. i love the gardens, and they had huge polar bears, penguins, trees, reindeers flying, and a huge tree this year. it was packed with tourists..of course...but we loved it still! and we went to the new casino in vegas called "cosmopolitan." it was grand and fancy and eccentric. of course. i love the strip. don't judge me. it makes me happy. slash it is festive during the holidays!

and tonight we had our annual tradition of celebrating christmas eve at the welsh household. except i haven't been there since high school. last christmas we were on an airplane on our way home from maui, hawaii. and the year before that i inconvinenetly got a migraine. (seriously could my body NOT pick the worst possible times to get sick?) so tonight was great. i opened my amazing gift from my favorite cousin liza. she knows me way too well. a JONAS scrapbook kit and a benefit make-up kit. hellooo happiness. of course the evening included food and LOTS of singing around the piano from everyone. i love it, because i always get to play piano, and it makes me happy. we always end the night with reading the christmas story from luke. i tried to be the reader this year, and my family rejected me because i am not a man. sexist. seriously. so liza and i began a new tradition; a dramaitc reading of "the night before christmas" by us. even if we are females. it was a great night. please observe the festive elf outfit lizzie and i bought liza's dog mally:

today i have concluded a few things:

-i have an amazing and festive family
-i love christmas so much. it makes me smile
-i love christmas in warm las vegas
-i wish they played christmas music on the radio year-round. even if it means i have listen to "christmas shoes" once every ten minutes. seriously. could they not??
-i can't wait for santa to come tonight

merry christmas eve, blog stalkers.

back to work.

i went back to work today. for the red cross. just for a day....to help out with writing assignments. my brain was exploding because i work in the P.R. department at the red cross..and all P.R. writing is about as opposite as you can get from broadcast writing. which is all i have done for the past 4 months. but i survived. anddd it was fun to see all my red cross old friends/boss. and write more articles. and i missed my cubicle....well...not really. but i think it missed me.

Christmas PARTAY!

tonight...we had a christmas party. well, when i say we, i mean the 3 hayes sisters. cause really, that's all you need for a party. we made the event f-book official, just to be sure everyone was on the same page about what was going on.

truly, a great idea. i recommend you make all family gatherings f-book official.

we had lots of festive activities! we are such festive people. we had:

we made it.

we drove through the scariest snow storm last night. but now we are home. see ya utah!

i love las vegas. it is warm...even in december. i will never EVER live in a cold place. fact. for example, provo is too cold for anna hayes to thrive in.

ps- did you hear about the tabernacle burning down? the provo tabernacle burned almost completely down on thursday night! the fire started at 2 am. that building, one of the 3 classy buildings in provo, (the other being the Maesar building on campus and the Provo library), is now in ruins. it is so sad. becky and i, of course, had to go be our snoopy selves and see it. i took this picture:
at 10 am it was still burning. sad day. i would have taken a picture of myself next to it....you know...for posterity and stuff. but i spent the whole night throwing up. seriously. i was so sick and clearly looked like death. and this sight made me want to throw up again because it is so sad. there is a priceless minerva teichert piece in the provo tabernacle; the one of joseph and oliver receiving the priesthood. i love minerva. i wonder if it survived. let me know if you know.....i sure hope it did.

here is a more dramatic picture than the one i took: i hope they rebuild it.
